SNOO

Snoo is a collection of blind contour drawings of my youngest sister Bailey. When we lived on opposite sides of the country, we would often video chat and draw each other. I made hundreds of drawings of her as we chatted about our days and thoughts. Her nickname growing up was Snoo; she is still Snoo. The single sheet drawings were hinged together using Japanese paper and glue, and then french-link stitch bound. These drawings inspired my artist book “Translating You.” This book is bare with no cover, matching the raw aesthetics of the inside. The drawings are often interrupted by scribbled notes, tape, drilled holes, and smudges. There is a great sense of freedom and honesty in this piece.
